Advancing Visual Storytelling

Inside Packed Lunch

Packed Lunch is rooted in the passion of our founders - Roy Joseph Butler and Leo Crane - to enable a wider appreciation with making art. Their dynamic partnership nurtured a unique integration of fine art with animation, creating award-winning work that just so happened to also inspire rich opportunities for public engagement in all manner of visual storytelling.

Nurturing Learning and Growth through Creation

Today, the Packed Lunch studio specialises in productions and public programming in moving-image, fine art and performance-based practices, with a purpose and passion for:

  • educating in artistic creation and art appreciation, without boundaries or judgement

  • engaging communities through workshops, networks, online initiatives and outreach

  • enabling and empowering creatives at all stages of their practice to continually develop

  • providing pathways for professional growth in the creative industries

  • nurturing and providing showcasing opportunities for emerging creatives

  • fostering mental wellbeing and creative communication for neuro and socially-diverse people and communities through artistic creation

As an inclusive arts charity and social enterprise, we achieve our purpose by:

  • designing and delivering learning programmes that nurture and deploy skills, as well as increasing public involvement in visual-narrative production

  • producing experiences for a diversity of audiences and participants, showcasing skills in visual storytelling

  • providing platforms for the public to discover artists who are developing their creative practices

  • fostering, above all, creative communication

Built on Partnerships

We are actively growing our networks and partnerships, striving for ever greater diversity of engagement and fresh opportunities to develop and deploy human and social capital through the arts, not to mention bring people and communities together through visual narratives.
