Advancing Visual Storytelling

Inside Packed Lunch

Packed Lunch is rooted in the passion of our founders - Roy Joseph Butler and Leo Crane - to enable a wider appreciation with making art. Their dynamic partnership nurtured a unique integration of fine art with animation, creating award-winning work that just so happened to also inspire rich opportunities for public engagement in all manner of visual storytelling.

Today, the Packed Lunch studio specialises in community-level programming in moving-image, fine art and performance-based practices, with a view to advancing art through these and related visual storytelling disciplines. That is our mission. And in keeping with our simple roots, it's our passion, too.

We are an inclusive arts-centred charity and social enterprise with a remit to:

  • Design and deliver learning programmes to nurture skills and increase public involvement in visual narratives.

  • Produce experiences for a diversity of audiences and participants, showcasing skills in visual storytelling.

  • Provide platforms for the public to discover artists who are developing their creative practices.

  • Foster, above all, creative communication.

And, we are actively growing community partnerships, striving for ever greater diversity of engagement and fresh opportunities to bring people and communities together through visual narratives. If you’d like to know more about working with us, commissioning services in learning or content creation, or otherwise supporting our initiatives, we’d love to hear from you.
